Since 2006, Peek-a-Babe has welcomed expectant parents and their families for a more personal ultrasound experience. Founded by sonographer Melanie Reyneke, our Cape Town practice brings professional experience and a mother's understanding to those first glimpses of your baby.

Meet Melanie Reyneke
A sonographer's experience.
A mother's perspective.
Mel's career began in radiography. She qualified in 1997, then completed a further two years of study specialising in ultrasound. Her work took her to the United Kingdom, where she gained extensive experience and trained radiologists, gynaecologists and fellow sonographers.
Becoming a mother gave Mel a very personal understanding of the curiosity and excitement that come with pregnancy. She wanted to know all the little details about her own baby, and recognised that other parents felt the same.
That idea became Peek-a-Babe in 2006: a practice with parents' questions and experiences at its heart. After two years in Gauteng, Mel returned to her hometown of Cape Town. Today, she welcomes parents, grandparents and friends to the Goodwood practice with the same enthusiasm for every scan.

A foundation in radiography
Mel qualified as a radiographer before pursuing her interest in ultrasound.
Ultrasound specialisation
Two further years of study
Specialist training built the foundation for her work as a sonographer.
